One suspect is in custody and police are searching for a second after an armed robbery of a vehicle in the area of Johnson Drive in Randolph Monday, police said.
“Residents may notice a large police presence in the area while the search and investigation are ongoing,” Randolph police said in a statement.
Officers responded to the area of Johnson Drive for a report of an armed robbery at about 1:20 p.m. Monday, according to the statement. Two suspects allegedly robbed a person in a vehicle, officials said.
No injuries were reported in the incident, according to police.
An 18-year-old Malden man was taken into custody after a foot pursuit by officers, the statement said. He allegedly stole jewelry and a cell phone from the victim.
The second suspect fled on foot to the area of the town dump, which is next to Route 24.
The State Police Air Wing is assisting Randolph Police with the search. Officers armed with long guns and K-9 units were on scene near Johnson Drive Monday afternoon, NBC 10 Boston reported.
The outlet also spoke to a witness who said he saw a car “race” down his street before being ditched in his lawn.
