Authorities are investigating the death of an Everett woman and the hospitalization of another woman following medical procedures allegedly performed at a Somerville home.
Everett police responded to a Bucknam Street home on Friday for a report of a woman in medical distress, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office. The woman, a 35-year-old resident of the house, was taken to CHA Everett where she was pronounced dead. The DA’s office said the woman had undergone a medical procedure the previous day in a Somerville home.
“Over the course of the investigation it was learned that another woman had also undergone a medical procedure at the same location,” the DA’s office said. “That woman was transported to a Boston hospital where she remains.”
A cause of death for the Everett woman is still being determined by the chief medical examiner.
The DA’s office said the investigation into the medical procedure that was allegedly performed and how the women’s injuries occurred remains ongoing.
Anyone with information about the incident is being urged to contact Somerville police at (617) 625-1600 or state police detectives at 781-897-6600.
