A bear was relocated Sunday morning from the middle of McKeon Road over Route 146 in Worcester.

Mass. State Police received reports of the bear around 8:15 a.m. When they arrived, they worked in conjunction with city police and animal control, as well as state Environmental Police, to move the bear safely.

A perimeter was set up while officials secured the bear and sedated it. The tranquilized bear was then moved to a more ideal location where it was later released.

According to police, the bear was unharmed and simply had a “refreshing nap” before being returned to a location away from major roadways or populated centers.
