Police investigating death after shooting in Mattapan

Officers responded to Blue Hill Avenue and Fremont Street around 4:44 a.m. Saturday.

Boston police launched a death investigation after a man was shot and killed near Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan early Saturday morning, police said. 

Boston police shared on Facebook that officers responded to Blue Hill Avenue and Fremont Street around 4:44 a.m. Saturday where a man was suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.

He was transported to a local hospital where he later died, according to police.

The man was not publicly identified.
