A Centerville woman is facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly torturing her dog with a shock collar at a Billerica home this year, police said.
Amanda Cianciulli, 36, was arrested Friday and will appear in court Monday on two animal cruelty charges, police said. She is being held at the Billerica police station this weekend.
Billerica police said their investigation began last week when they were notified of videos allegedly showing Cianciulli abusing her dog.
Cianciulli is accused of locking a dog in a cage and using a shock collar to torture it, police said. She is also accused of striking a dog with an object seven times while holding the dog down, police said.
Cianciulli has four dogs which were all taken by Billerica Police Animal Control to a veterinarian. They remain in a veterinarian’s care, Billerica police said.
