Police are searching for suspects in the armed robberies of 7-Elevens in Norwell and Quincy early Wednesday morning.
Norwell police said officers responded to the convenience store at 95 Washington St. for the report of a robbery around 4:18 a.m. Witnesses told police that three men entered the store, displayed two handguns, and demanded cash from the clerk. They then left the area in a black sedan on Washington Street toward Hingham.
Norwell police released dramatic images of the robbery.
In a statement, Quincy police said investigators are working to confirm whether the same three men were involved in the robbery of a 7-11 in Quincy a short time later.
Quincy police said officers responded to a 911 call reporting the armed robbery at the 7-Eleven at 76 Franklin St. around 4:38 a.m. During the robbery, three men wearing masks each brandished a gun, police said.
The suspects in the Quincy robbery fled on foot toward Water Street.
“A short time later a Quincy Police Officer observed a blue Hyundai driving through the intersection of Water St. and Liberty St.,” police said. “The officer attempted to stop the vehicle which then fled from the officer and crashed after striking a hydrant and a telephone pole a short distance away on Liberty St.”
Police said three men fled the crash on foot, running through yards in the neighborhood, and that they could not be found by officers.
Quincy police said the three men are believed to be the suspects in the robbery and that a car was later reported stolen in the vicinity of the crash.
The investigation into the robberies is ongoing.
