A GoFundMe has been created to assist in the funeral costs of 17-year-old Nevaeh Goddard who was found dead in Stow after being missing for two years.
Goddard was discovered dead in the home of 20-year-old boyfriend Shane Curry, her boyfriend, according to officials.
Police said they were called to Curry’s home for a wellness check on April 5. Curry refused to let police into the home when they arrived, according to officials.
When police were able to enter the home, they found Goddard dead, according to a statement from the District Attorney’s office.
Curry was arraigned on assault and battery charges. He allegedly told police he stabbed Goddard with a sword after an argument, according to Boston 25 News.
Goddard’s next of kin, her biological mother Kristen Goddard and her stepmom, Kristen’s fiance, Heather Coyne, are organizing a GoFundMe to cover the expenses of her services.
The couple told Boston 25 News that the medical examiner told them Goddard weighed 75 pounds at the time of her death.
Goddard had been missing for the last two years following a Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Family’s request that she receive behavioral treatment, according to the news report.
Goddard was raised by her father, the couple told Boston 25 News, because Kristen gave birth to her in a Pennsylvania prison. According to Kristen, Goddard called child services when she was 14 and was taken into state custody. She was spending time with her biological mom and Coyne when the Rhode Island DCYF made their request and she ran away.
The text of the GoFundMe details that although both the state of Massachusetts and Rhode Island have payment options for funeral services, the reimbursements take 6-12 months.
“Thank you for all the donations that we have already received and any future donations, they are greatly appreciated by our family to help give our baby girl a beautiful service, memorial candlelight vigil and legal fees to help get justice for our baby (who) was tragically taken from us,” read the page.
