Tairih King, a 9-year-old from Dorchester, received a full presidential escort on the way to Thursday night’s Celtics game courtesy of Make-a-Wish.
King, who has Hodgkin lymphoma, was seen in a video posted to X exiting a huge black car alongside his family with a squadron of gray-suited security detail personnel.

According to CBS Boston, King was also able to meet Celtics star Jayson Tatum as well as take a look at the locker rooms before the game started. At the end of the game, he also went home with a pair of signed sneakers as a souvenir.
King found out his wish was being granted at the foundation’s Massachusetts and Rhode Island Gala. Upon hearing he would be able to meet Tatum, King began to shed tears of joy, according to WHDH.
Make-a-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island’s Instagram account posted some behind-the-scenes video of King’s experience at the game.
“Saw these kids Tonight at the garden. Every player came up to them and talked to them, and gave ’em a photo. Very cool to see,” read one comment on the post.
