Lincoln police investigating animal abuse after puppy found abandoned

The young dog was found with “significant” injuries to the eyes and head.

Authorities are investigating after a puppy was found abandoned in Lincoln, Mass. suffering from injuries to its eyes and head.

Lincoln police said the small Terrier-Chihuahua mix dog was found along Page Road on Monday. The male puppy is estimated to be about three or four months old, and police said the dog was immediately taken by the resident who found him to Angell Animal Medical in Boston for treatment of the “significant” injuries to the eyes and head.

Lincoln police and the MSPCA Police Department are investigating the incident as a case of animal abuse and abandonment.

The puppy is responding well to medical care, according to police.

“We are looking for the public’s assistance with information that may assist us in identifying the owner of the dog and looking to see if anyone saw anything suspicious along Page Road in Lincoln, MA on Monday, April 8, 2024,” police said.
