A man was killed after a moped he was riding crashed into the woods in Hanson, officials said Monday.
Jozef Knop, 44, was pronounced dead at South Shore Hospital Sunday afternoon, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz said in a statement.
Hanson police were responding to a separate call at about 1:16 p.m. Sunday when they heard a crash nearby, according to the statement.
They found Knop’s black moped crashed a short distance from 38 Elm St., according to Cruz. Knop was found unresponsive with head trauma, officials said.
Knop was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, officials said.
The incident remains under investigation.
