Mass. IRS agent and ethics instructor charged with filing false tax returns

The suspect allegedly underreported more than $90,000 in income over a three-year period.

A Swampscott IRS agent allegedly filed false tax return forms for three consecutive years.

Ndeye Amy Thioub, 67, worked as a revenue agent for the IRS for more than 17 years. She also taught classes at Salem State University about professional standards, financial accounting, ethics, and more, according to the United States Attorney’s office.

According to a press release from acting U.S. Attorney Joshua Levy, Thioub claimed losses from a supposed “import and export” business, carrying those losses over to her personal IRS Form 1040s.

Levy alleges that Thioub underreported her income by $42,805 in 2017, $20,324 in 2018, and $27,063 in 2019.
