The Carver Fire Department reports a fatal house fire occurred on Wednesday night.
The fire department received a report of a fire at 222 Tremont St. at 11:59 p.m. During the call, they learned someone had run outside the residence and reported that someone was still trapped inside.
They responded within three minutes to the two-story home and encountered what they referred to as a “heavy fire” in a press release.
Carver fire and police discovered the man trapped inside on the first floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the district attorney’s office, that man has been identified as 69-year-old James Collins.
A second victim with unknown injuries was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Plymouth.
The case remains under investigation by the Carver Fire Department and other local authorities.
