A 26-year-old from Chelsea is facing multiple charges in connection with two alleged incidents of arson in East Boston.
Genesis Hurtado was arrested Monday morning around 10 a.m. by Boston police and members of the department’s Fire Investigations Unit, according to police.
Police said officers responded to the area of 184 Border St. for a report of a fire and at the scene, they were told a possible suspect fled the area. The suspect, later identified as Hurtado, was stopped by police near 31 Central Square and taken into custody.
The fire was extinguished, with no injuries reported, according to police.
Further investigation determined that Hurtado was the person of interest in a separate alleged arson incident on March 16 in the area of 210 Border St. around 8:03 p.m. She is facing three counts of arson and three counts of burning personal property, according to police.
She is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court.
