The Melrose fire chief was placed on leave on Friday, the city confirmed.
Chief Edward Collina is facing an investigation into “an alleged violation of City policy,” said Lauren Grymek, Mayor Jennifer Grigoraitis’s chief of staff.
Collina became chief of the department in 2018 after spending 32 years with the department, according to the city.
Collina couldn’t be reached on Sunday night, and no other details were immediately available.
