Boston school put on lockdown after ‘suspicious’ man enters campus

The man, who lives in Brockton, was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Boston College High School was put on lockdown Wednesday afternoon following reports that a “suspicious” man had entered the school, officials said.

The school entered a “brief” lockdown at about 1 p.m. due to information that an “unknown adult” was on campus, a spokesperson for the school said in a statement.

“At no point did the person come in contact with students, faculty, or staff,” the spokesperson said. “The person received care and was removed from campus without incident.”

Massachusetts State Police got a call for a “suspicious person waving traffic down” on Morrissey Boulevard at about 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, spokesperson Dave Procopio said in a statement.

As troopers were responding to the call, they were told the man had entered the private high school, located at 105 Morrissey Blvd in Dorchester.

Boston police were already on scene with the man when State Police troopers arrived. He was evaluated by Boston EMS before being taken to a Boston hospital for further evaluation, Procopio said.

The lockdown was lifted at approximately 1:15 p.m. and State Police had left the school at about 1:50, officials said.

The man is 40 years old and lives in Brockton, according to Procopio.
