Person hospitalized after explosion at auto shop in Hudson

Crews found fire and heavy smoke coming out of the building, officials said.

Officials are investigating after an explosion Monday morning at an auto shop sent one person to the hospital. 

The explosion occurred at about 11:30 a.m. Monday at 106 Forest Ave., Hudson Fire Chief Jamie Desautels and Hudson Police Chief Richard DiPersio said in a statement

Upon arrival, first responders noticed fire and “heavy” smoke coming from the building, which is a garage, a spokesperson for the Hudson Fire Department told Boston.com.

Hudson fire officials requested a “full department recall,” which includes activating all off-duty members, according to the statement. The fire was fully extinguished by crews.

One person was transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the explosion. Details about their condition were not available. 

There is no danger to the public, officials said. 

The cause of the explosion and fire is being investigated by the Hudson Fire Department, the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, and the District 14 Fire Investigation Team.
