Two dead, two injured in rollover crash in Vermont

The four occupants of the car were not wearing seatbelts during the fatal one-car crash, Vermont State Police said.

Two people died and two others were injured Saturday afternoon when a car struck a tree and rolled over in Barnet, Vt., police said. 

Bryana Gillis, 28, and Jessica Norrie, 27, were found deceased in the car, according to a press release by the Vermont State Police. The other two occupants “made it out of the vehicle” and were taken to local hospitals, police said. 

One of the victims, a 29-year-old, was taken to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital with minor injuries. A 44-year-old was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with severe injuries, police said. 

Vermont State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-91 South in Barnet at approximately 1:04 p.m. on Saturday, according to the press release.

The car, a 2015 Nissan Versa, reportedly left the road, hit a tree, and rolled over. The four people inside the car were not wearing seatbelts, police said. The car was totaled in the crash, according to the release.

The crash remains under investigation, and it’s unknown who was driving at the time of the crash or why the car left the road, Vermont State Police said.
