A man was shot and killed outside the apartment of a friend in Randolph Wednesday night, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey’s office.
Randolph police received a 911 call at about midnight that reported the sound of gunshots near Highland Glen Drive and the Castle Village Condominiums, Morrissey’s office said.
When they arrived, police officers found Deandre Jones, 32, sitting in a pickup truck suffering “obvious injury.” The truck had bullet holes in it. Jones was brought to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 1 a.m., according to authorities.
An autopsy was expected to be conducted as early as Friday. State police and Randolph police are conducting an ongoing investigation.
Jones was a resident of Boston. Authorities believe that he was targeted in the attack and that the shooting was not random, The Boston Globe reported.
“Detectives were working through the night, collecting evidence and processing the scene. The vehicle was towed to the Randolph Police Station for forensic processing,” Morrissey said in a statement. “There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.”
