74-year-old pedestrian struck, seriously injured by car in Chelmsford

The woman suffered “significant head trauma,” according to police, and her condition is unknown.

A 74-year-old woman was seriously injured on Tuesday evening when she was struck by a car in Chelmsford. 

The crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Main and School streets, according to Chelmsford police. The woman suffered “significant head trauma,” when she was hit by the car, driven by an 18-year-old man. 

Police said the woman was taken to Lowell General hospital and her condition is unknown. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
