A 27-year-old Milford school employee was arrested when state police allegedly found child pornography on his phone Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Robert Nolan, a school van driver who was fired from Milford Public Schools Thursday, is charged with possession of child pornography and dissemination of sexual or intimate photographs of a child.
According to court documents, Nolan was connected to an email address that the Department of Justice flagged with child sexual abuse materials. As of Wednesday, he was an employee of the public schools as a driver.
State police then went to Nolan’s home on Lena Lane in Milford, where they searched his phone and found the child pornography, Office Patrick Crosson wrote in the official complaint.
The images found were of male children, approximately aged 6 to 16, Crosson wrote.
Milford Public Schools Superintendent Kevin McIntyre notified families on Thursday that Nolan was fired and that he will no longer be on school property.
“Although the investigation is ongoing, at this time there is no evidence of content related to Milford or Milford students. Further, there is no evidence of any inappropriate contact or behavior,” he wrote.
In his court appearance Thursday, Nolan pleaded not guilty to both charges and remains in custody.
