The Boston Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own active duty officers, it announced Wednesday.
Boston police officer Andrew O’Connor, who was assigned to District A-7 in East Boston at the time of his passing, died on Tuesday, the department said in a statement.
O’Connor joined the department in June of 2021 and completed his training at the Boston Police Academy in January of 2022, they said.
“Throughout his tenure, Officer O’Connor received commendations and praise for his unwavering dedication to duty from both the community and his colleagues,” the statement read. “As you go about your day, please keep Office O’Connor and his family in your thoughts and prayers.”
No additional information was released.
