Police investigating after fatal pedestrian crash in Roxbury

A man was struck at the intersection of Hampden Street and Melnea Cass Boulevard early Wednesday morning, police said.

A man died after being hit by a car in Roxbury Wednesday morning, Boston police said. 

Police responded at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning for a report of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Hampden Street and Melnea Cass Boulevard, Boston police spokesperson Jason Villanueva said in a statement. 

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

The fatal accident team is investigating the incident, Villanueva said. No further information was released.
