These are the safest towns in Mass., according to new report

Here are the safest towns in Massachusetts, according to a report by Property Club, a network organization for property investors. 

“Massachusetts is possibly the best example of a New England state. Picturesque, great cities, small towns, and great seafood,” read a portion of the company’s ranking. 

The metrics used to determine the safest towns included population, crime rate, and home pricing.

Here is the list of the safest towns as determined by Property Club: 

  1. Clinton: With a crime rate 97% lower than the national average and a population of 15,428, Clinton is described as “a peaceful and quiet town located in central Massachusetts.”
  2. Hopkinton: With a crime rate 91% lower than the national average, the town is described as a “wooded suburban community” with a population of 18,758. 
  3. Franklin: With a crime rate 89% lower than the national average, it’s described as a town with “small-town charm and a lot of safety” and a population of 36,745. 
  4. Sharon: Described as containing a large amount of conservation land, the town boasts a crime rate 86% lower than the national average, with a population of 18,575. 
  5. Lexington: With its “safe and quiet streets,” the town has a crime rate 84% lower than the national average with a population of 34,454. 
  6. Wayland: “Many beautiful single-family homes in manicured neighborhoods lined with trees and lakefront views,” according to the description of the town with a crime rate 81% lower than the national average and a population of 13,882 in 2018. 
  7. Arlington: The “safe, quiet community” has a crime rate 75% lower than the national average, with a population of 46,308. 
  8. Sudbury: The “small, low-key community” for people who enjoy “colonial charm” boasts a crime rate 78% lower than the national average and a population of 18,934.  
  9. Andover: Described as a “peaceful suburb with a quaint New England charm,” the town has a crime rate 73% lower than the national average, with a population of 36,569. 
  10. Newton: Described as a town with a “tight-knit sense of community,” it boasts a crime rate 73% lower than the national average and a population of 88,923.
