Stoughton police investigate shooting

Officers found shell casings on McEachron Drive, according to officials. Later they discovered a teenage male at the hospital with gunshot wounds.

The Stoughton Police Department responded Friday night to a shooting on McEachron Drive, according to a statement from Chief Donna McNamara.

On Friday, Feb. 24, at approximately 11:20 p.m., the Stoughton Police Department received 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area of McEachron Drive, according to officials.

Police said responding units located shell casings on McEachron Drive near Murray Circle but were not able to find any victims at the scene. 

Officers went to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton to see if anyone had arrived with gunshot wounds and discovered that a teenage male was in the Emergency Room being treated for gunshot wounds, according to the statement.

Authorities said the teen was later transferred to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with injuries that appeared to be serious. 

Stoughton police are investigating this incident, and believe the shooting was targeted and not random in nature, according to the statement.

Stoughton police are being assisted by Randolph, Brockton and Massachusetts State police. 

A description of the shooting suspect is not available. Police are asking all residents in the area to check their home security cameras for any footage that could assist the investigation.
