A car crashed head-on into a brick wall on a Lowell highway Monday, killing the driver.
Officers responded to the area of 333 First Blvd. at VFW Highway for a report of a motor vehicle crash, Boston 25 News reported.
The only occupant of the car, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials told Boston 25 News.
The Lowell Police Department said in a post on their X page around 1:27 p.m. that Route 111 was closed in both directions between the Hunt Falls Rotary and the Lowell Wastewater Treatment Facility.
The post was updated at around 3 p.m. saying the highway had reopened.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Lowell Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit, officials told Boston 25 News.
