Cataldo Ambulance Services told the station that the ambulance, driven by paramedic Tim Crosbie, was headed to Massachusetts General Hospital with a patient, traveling south on I-95 in Peabody when a car lost control and rolled over the center median.
A spokesperson for the ambulance company said Crosbie steered the rig to safety and then he and his colleague, EMT Tim Wareham, helped the driver of the car until additional help arrived.
Their original patient was delivered safely to Boston, the station reported.
