A state police cruiser caught fire on Monday after it struck a utility pole in Northfield, WWLP reports.
A police spokesperson told the station the crash occurred around 2:51 p.m. on Warwick Road when a trooper came upon a curve in the roadway and the vehicle’s right tire went off the road into the dirt shoulder. The trooper, according to the spokesperson, was unable to get the cruiser back on the road and it struck the utility pole, causing the fire.
According to WWLP, the trooper was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
