A man was hospitalized with serious injuries Tuesday morning after crashing into a truck with an attached plow, State Police said.
Massachusetts State troopers responded to a crash between a sedan and a snow plow at around 9 a.m. Tuesday, officials said in a statement. The crash occurred on Route 2 east at the 90 mile marker in Westminster.
The 20-year-old man, who lives in Gardner, was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry when he struck the rear of a Peterbilt dump truck with an attached plow, an initial investigation showed. The driver of the Camry was taken to Heywood Hospital in Gardner by ambulance before being taken by helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, police said.
The driver of the plow, which was privately owned, was not injured, according to the press release.
The speed of the Camry and the road and weather conditions could have contributed to the crash, State Police said. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The right lane and ramp from Route 140 to 2 east was closed due to the crash, police said. All lanes were reopened at 11:42 a.m.
