A person was rescued from Fore River Channel Saturday afternoon after reportedly jumping from a bridge, Quincy police said.
Police received multiple 911 calls reporting that someone had jumped from Fore River Bridge into the channel, Quincy Police said in a statement.
The Quincy Police Marine Unit was deployed and found a person in the water near the fender system of the bridge, police said. The person was pulled onto a police vessel and was provided medical assistance.
The temperature of the water at the time of the incident was approximately 38 degrees, police said. The victim was transferred to Brewster EMS at a dock near 780 Washington Street.
After being treated by EMS, the victim was transported to Boston Medical Center.
No further information was available about the person’s condition or the incident as of Sunday afternoon.
