Police seek man in alleged unprovoked attack on Orange Line

The suspect allegedly struck two people with a closed fist before fleeing the train.

Transit police are asking the public’s help in tracking down a “person of interest” they believe may have been involved in an alleged assault of two Orange Line passengers last month.

Investigators said the attack happened on Jan. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Jackson Square Station in Jamaica Plain. Officers said the perpetrator struck the two victims with a closed fist “without warning or provocation” before fleeing.

On Friday, T police released photos of an individual wearing a black hat, black puffy coat, and gray pants and asked anyone who could identify the person to contact investigators.

Tips can be sent to the department’s Criminal Investigation Unit by calling 617-222-1050. Anyone with information may remain anonymous.
