Man convicted in 2019 road rage murder during rush hour in Revere

Carlos Lemon was found guilty of fatally shooting another driver in the neck from inside his Prius.

A man was found guilty of first-degree murder after a car shooting in 2019 left one driver dead in Revere, prosecutors said.

Carlos Lemon, 37, was also convicted of a second offense of carrying a firearm without a license and carrying a loaded firearm without a license, the Suffolk County DA’s office said in an email Wednesday.

The deadly shooting occurred during rush hour traffic in Revere, when the victim, Nelio Barbosa of Malden, was driving on North Shore Road.

Prosecutors said the gunman fired two shots into the passenger side window of Barbosa’s car. The victim was shot in the neck just after 5 p.m. near the Wonderland MBTA station, NBC 10 reports.

Using surveillance footage and witness testimony, authorities were able to determine that the suspect was Lemon, who was driving in a Prius to the right of Barbosa’s car. Lemon was also the only person in the Prius at the time of the shooting.

“This was an extraordinarily reckless act of violence during rush hour in a busy section of Revere that not only took the life of Mr. Barbosa, but placed everyone on the road that day and everyone in nearby dwellings in extreme danger,” said District Attorney Kevin Hayden in a press release.

His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 21, the Suffolk County DA’s office said.
