Police are investigating after a 10-year-old girl was struck near a school Thursday morning, officials said.
Milford police received multiple 911 calls shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday morning reporting that a pedestrian was struck in the area of 106 Congress St., according to a press release from the Milford Police Department. The Milford Fire Department and community EMS were dispatched to the scene and shutdown the roadway to render aid, officials said.
The pedestrian was a 10-year-old girl who was a student at the nearby Brookside Elementary School, officials told the Milford Daily News. A sedan driving south on Main Street struck her while she was not in a crosswalk, the News reported.
The girl, who has not been identified, sustained non life-threatening injuries and was brought to UMass Memorial Hospital, police said.
The driver of the vehicle, a Milford woman in her 40s, according to the Milford Daily News, was transported to Milford Regional Medical Center due to “her being upset.”
The incident is being investigated and the driver had been cited for “multiple infractions,” Milford police said.
