A Massachusetts man is facing multiple charges in New Hampshire including driving while intoxicated after, police say, he led state troopers in a chase on I-93 on Monday that ended in a foot pursuit.
New Hampshire State Police said Richard Gomez, 37, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, was apprehended by a K-9 partner and taken into custody.
Police said the incident began when a state trooper attempted to stop a vehicle, allegedly driven by Gomez, on I-93 northbound in Bow around 1:41 a.m. for a defective equipment violation. Gomez allegedly failed to stop, leading the trooper in a chase going 110 mph.
Police said Gomez got off the interstate in Concord and was “having severe lane control issues and driving on the wrong side of Loudon Road for a brief period of time.”
“The pursuit ended when the operator abandoned his vehicle at an apartment complex and fled on foot,” police said. “The operator was apprehended by Trooper Davis’s K-9 partner, Mando after a short foot pursuit and was taken into custody.”
Gomez was charged with disobeying a police officer, resisting arrest, aggravated driving while intoxicated, operating after suspension offense, reckless conduct, and reckless operation. According to police, he also had two active bench warrants for his arrest in New Hampshire and refused bail. He was expected to appear in Concord District Court.
