Four people were displaced and a house in East Bridgewater was completely destroyed after a fire Sunday afternoon, police said.
East Bridgewater Fire dispatchers received multiple calls shortly after noon reporting a structure fire at 53 Old Bedford Road, according to a press release by East Bridgewater Fire Department.
Upon arrival, they found the fire had spread to “much of the home,” which was “L-shaped” and had two stories.
All four people inside the house were able to escape, police said. The first two left the house through the first-floor window with their dog, but four pet cats were still unaccounted for, officials said.
The building was deemed “a total loss,” according to the press release. The four people who were inside the house are displaced and being helped by the American Red Cross.
The fire is being investigated by the East Bridgewater Fire Department and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
