A man was struck and killed by an MBTA commuter rail train on Tuesday afternoon while he was attempting to cross the tracks in Hyde Park, WCVB reports.
According to WCVB, Transit Police said the man, who was carrying a suitcase, was struck just after 3 p.m. as he was trying to go over a fence separating the tracks at the Hyde Park MBTA Station.
“On behalf of the (Transit Police Department) and the entire MBTA organization, we offer our most sincere condolences to the decedent’s family, loved ones and friends,” Sullivan said in a statement obtained by WCVB.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to the TV station.
The police activity at the MBTA station caused the shutdown of commuter rail service at the Hyde Park stop on the Providence/Stoughton and Franklin/Foxboro lines for several hours. As regular service resumed Tuesday evening, the MBTA warned passengers to expect residual delays.
