Cape Cod school bus driver indicted on sexual assault charges

Jeffrey Hyland, 80, of West Yarmouth is facing charges in connection with two separate incidents in Barnstable.

A former Cape Cod school bus driver has been indicted on charges that he sexually assaulted two students in Barnstable last year.

Jeffrey Hyland, 80, of West Yarmouth was indicted on two counts of aggravated indecent assault and battery on a child less than 14 years old, two counts of reckless endangerment of a child; and one count of intimidation of a witness, the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s office announced Friday.

Prosecutors allege that on Sept. 13, 2023, Barnstable police received a report of an alleged indecent assault and battery on a young girl by her bus driver, identified as Hyland.
