16-year-old killed in crash while exiting high school in Western Mass.

A 16-year-old student at Pathfinder Tech High School is dead after their SUV was struck Tuesday while they were exiting the school in Palmer, according to local police.

Police say the student — whom they have not publicly identified — was leaving the school just after 2:20 p.m. when their 1988 Chevrolet Suburban was hit broadside on the driver’s side by a tractor-trailer heading southbound on Sykes Street.

The other driver was not injured, and police said they were cooperating with the investigation, which was ongoing.
