Pietra Emanuelle Silva Araujo, the 4-year-old who died in a huge fire in a multi-family home in Lowell last week, was at her daycare facility when the blaze started, according to her family.

The daughter of Silvia Santos and Alexandre Araujo, both of Lowell, Pietra was born Feb. 13, 2018 in Governador, Valaderes, Brazil, according to her obituary.
She lived in Brazil for the first three years of her life, before her family relocated to Lowell last summer.
The 4-year-old loved her new home in the United States, according to the obituary published by the McDonough Funeral Home in Lowell.
“She enjoyed playing with her friends and family especially outside in the park,” her family wrote. “She loved her family and they loved her. Her family will cherish every moment of the 4 years they had with her.”
Firefighting crews first responded to the March 3 multi-family home fire around 2:30 p.m. Last week, Lowell Fire Chief Phillip Charron told reporters that one person was rescued from the first floor, and four people were rescued from the third-floor porch using ladders.

Pietra was learning to speak both English and Portuguese and was known to correct older friends and family if they made a mistake in either language.
“She was a precious gift, gone all too soon, she will be missed by all and her family asks for your support and prayers during this unimaginably difficult time,” wrote her family.
A neighbor of Pietra’s family, Adrianna Swan, is organizing a GoFundMe campaign to help support the family.
“I’m try to help and figure out everything for them, since they have been here in USA only for 7 months and also they don’t speak English,” wrote Swan. “I would like to ask for prayers and the most supporting for them.”
