Flags to fly at half staff for Army SPC from Sharon killed in car crash earlier this month

Gov. Charlie Baker ordered state and U.S. flags to fly at half staff until sunset Tuesday in honor of U.S. Army Spc. Huguens Pierre, who died earlier this month. 

Pierre was a 2019 graduate of Sharon High School and grew up in Framingham. He died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Feb. 5. He was 21. 

“He was a calm and ‘chill’ presence in any situation, and known as fiercely loyal to family and friends,” reads his obituary. 

Pierre was an accomplished athlete, both playing football and being a “top 5” wrestler. He served at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, in the 327th Infantry Regiment.

He will be buried in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30 p.m.

PC Huguens Pierre immigrated to the US from Haiti with his family at the young age of six. They settled into life in Framingham and became a part of its fabric relatively quickly. He attended local schools, Charlotte Dunning, Fuller Middle School and then onto Framingham High School. 

There was no question about it, Huguens was a good athlete he excelled in both football and wrestling, and was named as a top 5 wrestler more than once. In the middle of his senior year at Framingham a move to Sharon was inevitable, and he wrestled to another top 5 and graduated from Sharon High School in 2019.

He was a calm and “chill” presence in any situation, and known as fiercely loyal to family and friends. Two traits that not only served him well, but his country as an SPC in the US Army based in Fort Campbell, KY. 

Sadly, Huguens died unexpectedly on Saturday morning February 5, 2022 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident at the age of 21.

Besides his brothers and sisters in the Army, Huguens is survived by his mother, Gabrielle Raphael of Bridgewater, his father Hugues Pierre of Haiti, his siblings, Jerry Raphael of Fitchburg, and Bernadette DeLisca & her husband Jamal Baptiste of Bridgewater, his nieces, Elayna and Eva Raphael, a special cousin, Cadet Raphael, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Family and friends will honor and remember Huguens’ life and service by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Monday, February 21st from 2-6 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Stephen Church, 221 Concord St. Framingham, on Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock.  Interment will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:30 p.m.
