Tewksbury police arrested four Billerica teens accused of firing several shots from a “pellet gun-type device” into a crowd at Tewksbury Memorial High School on Thursday, according to a statement.
Following a basketball game between Tewksbury and Billerica high schools, the four teens, three of whom are minors, are accused of firing pellets from gel blasters into a crowd leaving the school, according to police Chief Ryan M. Columbus.
Officials did not identify the minors — who range in age from 16 to 17. They did identify 18-year-old Allane Sonny Takock.
Police said seven people were shot and evaluated by the Tewksbury Fire Department, but were not taken to the hospital.
“During the initial investigation, police learned that the four suspects — driving by in two vehicles — allegedly discharged two pellet gun-type devices into a crowd of people leaving the Tewksbury-Billerica basketball game,” according to the statement.
Police said the four were charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and were arrested without incident.
Tewksbury high student Sean Lane told NBC Boston that his car was hit by one of the pellets.
“I was expecting people to trash talk in the parking lot, but I wasn’t expecting people to pull out an airsoft gun,” he said.
Takock was arraigned in Lowell District Court, while the three juveniles are were arraigned in Lowell Juvenile Court.
