Transit police are investigating a stabbing that occured Monday night at the Downtown Crossing MBTA station that left one man hospitalized.
Police said around 10 p.m. two men were engaged in a verbal dispute when it escalated and became physical. One of the men stabbed the other and then fled the area.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and the incident remains under investigation, police said.
Police action on the platform related to the altercation resulted in the MBTA directing southbound Orange Line trains to bypass the station through the end of service Monday night. Regular service resumed Tuesday morning.
