Travel ban in effect Saturday for large trucks on highways due to storm
“If you must travel, be extra cautious, take it slow & plan for extra travel time."
Gov. Charlie Baker did stress during his press conference Friday that he wants residents to stay off the roads during the storm this weekend.
But if that already wasn’t abundantly clear, the state has also issued a travel ban on the commonwealth’s interstate highways Saturday between 6 a.m. and midnight for tractor trailers, tandems, and special permit haulers, according to MassDOT.
While travel isn’t prohibited for everyone else, MassDOT did note that “travel will be very difficult in many places.”
“If you must travel, be extra cautious, take it slow & plan for extra travel time,” the department said.
Conditions on those roads will be very hazardous, so people really ought to plan to stay off the roads tomorrow,” Baker said. “Have I made myself clear on staying off the roads tomorrow? … We really don’t want people to be on those roads during that period for a number of reasons.”
