A Hyde Park man was struck and killed by a pick-up truck Saturday night on Route 3 northbound in Billerica, according to a statement from state police.
Around 7:54 p.m., troopers received calls about a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Route 3 northbound near exit 78.
Police say a 43-year-old Hyde Park man was a passenger in a 2016 Chevy Equinox driven by a 50-year-old Lowell woman.
According to officials, the Chevy pulled into the breakdown lane and the Hyde Park man got out of the vehicle and “went into the roadway” for reasons still under investigation.
Police say the passenger was then hit by a 2016 Ford F-150 operated by a 25-year-old Billerica man. All operators remained at the scene, according to the statement.
No charges have been filed at this time.
The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation, according to police.
Lanes were closed for about two hours on Route 3 northbound for the investigation, according to the statement.
