Police search for suspect in assault and vandalism over store’s mask policy

Police say the man vandalized the Roxbury business and then pepper-sprayed the owner.

Boston police are asking for the public’s help with identifying the suspect in an assault and vandalism incident at N&M Market, 2359 Washington St., in Roxbury.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 23, the suspect vandalized the inside of the store because of its mask policy, according to a statement from police.

When confronted about the vandalism, the suspect pepper-sprayed the owner, according to police.

Police described the suspect as a Black male, 60 to 70 years old, and weighing approximately 150-170 pounds.
