Update: On Tuesday afternoon, police publicly identified the victim as 85-year-old Alexander Gribko, who lived in the immediate area.
A Yarmouth officer on routine patrol Tuesday morning discovered a hit-and-run victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. Now, local and state police are investigating the crash and trying to determine the identity of the victim.
The town Department of Natural Resources officer spotted the victim while traveling on Winslow Gray Road, between Swan Lake and Joshua Baker roads, at about 7:30 a.m., police said on Facebook.
The victim, whose identity was unknown later Tuesday morning, was described as a white man, approximately 70 years old and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a red down jacket, blue jeans, a red scarf, blue hat, and dark mittens, according to police.
Anyone with information about the crash or the victim’s identity is asked to call Yarmouth police at 508-775-0445, ext. 2100.
