A 39-year-old Rhode Island man is dead after state police say his vehicle went off I-495 southbound in Mansfield Thanksgiving morning and hit a tree.
Police were called to the scene near mile marker 33 around 5:30 a.m. for a report of a single-car crash. There, they found a 2009 Lexus sedan that, for reasons authorities are still investigating, went off the road.
The victim, of Rumford, was declared dead at the scene. He hasn’t been publicly identified.
The left and middle lanes of the highway were closed for reconstruction and clean up for about two hours, reopening at 7:30 a.m.
