A missing lobsterman who was found unresponsive Sunday afternoon in Plymouth Harbor has died, the family confirmed.
The man, who was identified as Michael Furlong, was found after an unmanned lobster boat in Plymouth Harbor was reported to the U.S. Coast Guard. A helicopter began an aerial search following the report and found Furlong in the water.
Furlong was pulled out of the water by the Plymouth Harbormaster. He was wearing fishing bibs but did not have on a life jacket or any other floatation device, according to a Coast Guard spokesperson.
Furlong was brought to a local hospital upon rescue.
“Michael was my father-in-law,” Kristen Svenson told WBZ NewsRadio. “There is nothing to share at this moment besides that news. As a family we are asking for time, privacy, and respect as we process this tragic loss.”
