Man shot in knee during Amesbury home robbery

The robbery occurred between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. at 11.5 Mill St.

A private residence in Amesbury was robbed this morning and one man was injured after being shot in the knee, according to the Amesbury Police Department.

Police reported the robbery occurred between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. at 11.5 Mill St.

They also added 26-year-old Robert C. Coote — who lives at 11.5 Mill St. — was transported to Portsmouth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after he was shot in the knee.

The City of Amesbury released video footage on Tuesday, Nov. 16 of the robbers leaving the Mill Street home.

The suspects reportedly left with a floor safe that belongs to Coote, but the contents of the safe are unknown.

“We have reason to believe that the victim and assailants know each other,” Amesbury Police wrote in a Facebook post.

The assailants are both described as white males with shaved heads, as seen in a picture from the surveillance footage. One of the robbers was wearing a black hooded North Face sweatshirt.

The assailants fled the scene in a silver or grey colored sedan with part of the license plate ending in 845, according to a witness. Police believe the two men are no longer in the area.

Police added there is no threat to public safety at this time, and are asking anyone with information to call (978) 388-1212.
