One person is dead, and another seriously injured, following a crash on I-495 in Raynham Tuesday morning.
The crash involved five vehicles, according to David Procopio, a spokesman for the state police.
Authorities were called to I-495 northbound near the exit for Route 138 around 7:15 a.m. for a “serious, multiple-vehicle crash,” state police said.
One person was determined dead on scene. Another, who was driving a different vehicle, was believed to be outside his vehicle when he was struck. His injuries were thought to be serious, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital, according to authorities.
Procopio called the scene “complex” and investigators are continuing to work on reconstructing what happened. One of the five vehicles involved was also towing a trailer.
As of around 11 a.m., just one lane of I-495 northbound was open near where the crash is. The other lanes, as well as the breakdown lane, are closed.
The investigation is ongoing.
