A pedestrian was struck, and his dog killed, in an early morning crash in Quincy, according to authorities.
Around 5:25 a.m., police were called to the area near Hancock and Carruth streets where they found a man in his 60s with injuries thought to be serious. He was taken to Boston Medical Center, police said.
The man’s dog was struck and killed during the crash, according to officials.
There was a crosswalk nearby; authorities said they’re not sure if the man and his dog were in it at the time of the crash.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene, according to police.
Hancock Street was closed between Furnace Brook Parkway and Merrymount Parkway during the investigation; it has since reopened, police said.
